How To Add New Fonts To Your Cricut and Silhouette
Happy Day Side Hustle Warriors and Fellow Crafters!
Today we are going to visit how to get fonts for free into your operating system, whether you are using Cricut or Silhouette.
I am sure that there are several other websites to there that offer free fonts, but I am partial to dafont.com, as with most of the folks in our industry. They have thousands of free fonts and it is super easy to use! All you need to do is go to the website and search the site for a font or fonts that you like. Click on the download button next to that font. When you are done downloading all of the fonts that you want, you need to upload them to your computer. Keep in mind, these fonts are on the computer you are using, not in your Design Space or Silhouette Studio. When you sign in on another computer, you will have to download that same font again to each device you are using.
It is important to know that you will not be able to use the new font until you close your Design Space or Silhouette Studio entirely. If you are in the middle of a project, do not forget to save it at the point that you are at before closing the operating system down. When you reopen it, you should then be able to use the new fonts and find them in your font dropdown list.
You may also want to keep in mind that dafont will let you know of any issues with the font. It is at your discretion whether you want to take the risks by downloading it.
Another tool that is sometimes helpful is an app for your phone called Whatthefont. If you are unsure of the font that your last minute client sent you, and they are so inflexible that they insist the font is the same on their shirt that they found on the internet, you can always try to use the app to identify the font. All I can do is wish you Good Luck! It has not worked for me in the past, yet others keep recommending it, so it works for some folks! Be aware that it is linked to a site that wants you to download and likely purchase their fonts. I cannot speak to those fonts, because I have never used them.
