Arts and Craft Store near me?

How many of us have googled that string of words? Why did we search that way? Because the online world does not have a way to capture “Top of the line Vinyl Shop offering amazing classes to the best clients the world has to offer!” ?♥️?

On a serious note, I have had clients struggling with cutting vinyl using both the Silhouette and the Cricut lately. In my experience, this hiccup seems to occur every time both design systems do an update or new “plug-in”. Who suffers? We do as clients trying to keep our Side Hustle going and working on a tight budget. We CANNOT afford to lose this money and eat the cost.

I can not control how they do their updates, but I can provide a hopefully useful solution to mitigate the problem. Will it guarantee success? NOPE! Will it reduce the risk? More than likely.

1. Make sure you have the MOST updated version of your design platform, whether it is Design Space or Design Studio.

2. When cutting a lot of glitter and thicker vinyls your blade WILL dull faster. To temporarily extend the life of your blade you can ball up some foil and jab the blade into the foil a few times. It cleans the blade and extends the life of the blade for a nominal times frame. Also be mindful that the housing gets gummed up, too. Not just the blade. Clean them all to remove the gunk.

3. Do a test cut. One of the advantages of having the Silhouette Design Studio is they there is a test cut. USE IT! it is not fail proof, but I’d rather only waste an 3/4” piece of vinyl as opposed to a full sheet! For my CRICUT users, you can do the same thing. You just have to do it manually. Pick any shape. Square or circle makes most sense. Then slice a shape within the initial shape you chose. Silhouette has a square with a triangle inside of it. Cut JUST that test cut on the vinyl before cutting your entire image.

4. Also for my Cricut users with the air models that have the dial – turn that dial to custom and NEVER change it again!!! It forces you to be mindful about what material you are using because you have to tell it. It may also serve as a reminder that you may have forgotten to mirror your ur image. Win-Win!!! The dial is an antiquated addition to those machines. Trust me on this one!!!

I love each and every one of you for crafting the way you do and look forward to continued great success with you!!!

Let’s Make Something!!!
